Tonite at or around Midnight three police officers with badge numbers of 925, 936, and 1122 stopped by infront of the court house in what I believe was an attempt at intimidation. They asked why and I gave them a quick run through on what has been happening since Jan. of this year.
The officers were polite but I fail to see how a Protest is considered loitering?
If the definition of loitering is as follows"Loitering is an intransitive verb meaning to stand idly, to stop numerous times, or to delay and procrastinate." and I am there with a sign stipulating that I am infact doing something then how can I be loitering?
If we look at the Charter of rights and freedoms we have the right to:
Fundamental Freedoms

2. Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms:

(a) freedom of conscience and religion;

(b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;

(c) freedom of peaceful assembly; and

(d) freedom of association.

I replied I thought that the court house was paid for by the public through its tax dollars and therefore since I paid taxes partly mine. To which they replied while pointing at a sign which said "No Loitering" funny things is that I wasn't loitering I was however engaged in a "Hunger Strike" Protest. Their reply was a question if I was aware of the tresspass Act,,, kinda familiar but not all that much but am not sure how they construed a non-violent protest as Loitering,, but hey would have been nice for the "No Loitering" sign had a by-law number or something that would refer me to the proper statue and or current consolidated law.
Another interesting point would be how another police establishment (OPP) are in the courts right now for the very same reason because they did not want to disturb the Aboriginal Protesters but just little old me with a sign on the court steps with a knapsack.
Wow almost a discriminatory act if the Aboriginal people were permited to continue their protest and I was intimidated to leave mine till the morning?
Think that I will making a point to direct Mr. Brown to this website ,,, One rule for Aboriginals and another for a caucasian?
