Event Description

Hamilton Artist James Blair brings his new series (an exciting multimedia production) of photos, paintings and music teamed up with some really neat videos...
to the bread and roses cafe.

This is the first time James has recorded music (it's a team project) ... the sound could be called "grungy, ambient noise w/ chilling vocals"

6 paintings, 24 photos, live music and just enough razzle dazzle to make your eyes glaze over with joy!

Come say farewell to James before he takes this series "the journey" to B.C .

THIS EVENT IS P.W.Y.C

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

James Blair is a 24-year-old Self-trained artist who was born and raised in Hamilton Ontario Canada. During high school James worked as an artist finding old furniture in the trash, he would then paint images on the furniture and sell it for profit. After spending a few years acting in local theatre and getting married to his loving husband Steven, James knew it was time to wet his paint brushes again with the release of his fork you! Series presented by Tossounian Studio on April 11th 2008.

After a successful showing of the fork you! Series James then joined established Ontario artist Jeanette Tossounian, International artist Kendal Hurley and His good friend Juliana La Chance in support of the arts by sharing there works during the opening of Tossounian Gallery in Niagara Falls Ontario.

Tossounian Gallery opened and became so busy Jeanette had to hire
artists to help with sales and general artistic need.

After a few months of the unestablished and misdirected art scene In a community packed with strong political agendas and lack of inspiration James decided it would be best to come back to his hometown where he could focus on his own artistic journey.
During the summer of 2008 James toured parts of Ontario with his artwork.

CITIES HE VISITED:
Port Dover
Simcoe
Etobicoke
Stoney Creek
Toronto

He spent all of September caring for his husband who suffered from terminal lung cancer.
It is during these dark times of endless hospital visits and lack of funds that he created his series Exibit A (featuring angels and Christ Driven images) which was released during the James Street Art Crawl at The MEX I CAN.
During October and november His husband became more ill. He lovingly cared for his husband at home for two beautiful months. In December James and Steven took one last journey together to the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice. James cared for Steven full time in the hospice for 2 weeks and was with this wonderful and inspiring man when he met God. "he was not afraid, he smiled all day" he stated. His newer paintings are Darker and a bit more profound (expressing his grief) featuring some of the styles of one of his favourite artists J.Tossounian.
"she took me under her wing and got me back into painting" he says. " My Husband was so happy to watch me paint all the time" he added. " He climbed up a full flight of stairs to Jeannette's second floor studio to see my first series.. and all he could say was YOU'VE MADE IT !" and he has.
